Do you like painting? Are you meticulous and precise? Become a commercial or residential painter! You will work on surfaces such as wood, metal, and limestone on the inside or outside of buildings, houses, public places, offices and industrial or commercial spaces.

Your job will be to cover the walls, ceilings and floors with coatings to protect and decorate them as needed. You will often be perched on a ladder or scaffolding.

Program goals

  • Know how to prepare and finish wood, limestone, metal or synthetic surfaces
  • Know how to apply on these surfaces dyes, paints or varnishes
  • Know how to apply wallpaper, vinyl, or fabric
  • Know how to make decoration work (graphic drawing, lettering)

Requirements

Persons holding a Secondary School Diploma or its recognized equivalent.
OR
Persons who are at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which their training is to begin and have earned the Secondary III credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister, or have been granted recognition of equivalent learning.
OR
Persons who are at least 18 years of age upon entry into the program and have the following functional prerequisites: the successful completion of the General Development Test , and recognition of equivalent learning.
